Seguridad Social (from now on knows as SegS) is the Spanish
version of Social Security. If you are retired, you will need
an E-121 form from your social security office in your home
country and you will have to have already applied for Spanish
residency in order to become registered in SegS.
If you are freelance or have your own company, you are
required to register with SegS and you have to pay a monthly
amount, no matter how much you earn. (From Jan.1, 2005 -
232.98 Euro.) If you are employed your employer is required to
register you and pay the monthly payment.
